The Barren County Board of Education did not raise the school tax rate this year, adopting the same general fund tax levy as last year: 62.6 cents on real property and 67.4 cents on personal property. The required legal notice follows: The Barren County Board of Education adopted a general fund tax levy of 62.6 cents on real property and 67.4 cents on personal property. The General Fund tax levied in fiscal year 2026 was 62.6 cents on real property and 67.4 cents on personal property and produced revenue of $13,588,777. The proposed General Fund tax rate of 62.6 cents on real property and 67.4 cents on personal property is expected to produce $15,093,045. Of this amount, $1,891,630 is from new and personal property. The compensating tax for 2027 is 60.2 cents on real property and 67.3 cents on personal property and is expected to produce $14,570,576. The proposed rate is expected to generate more revenue than received in the preceding year. The general areas to which revenue of $1,504,268 above 2026 revenue is to be allocated are as follows: Cost of collections, $41,367; building fund, $100,000; instruction, $1,000,000; transportation, $200,000; and maintenance of plant, $162,901. This information is published pursuant to KRS 160.470. The proposed tax rate is not subject to recall under KRS 132.017. The General Assembly has required publication of this advertisement and information contained herein.

Barren County Schools will celebrate ALL IN FOR AG EDUCATION WEEK, September 21–25, and we’re inviting our community to be part of it!

We’re looking for farmers, producers, agriculture professionals, local businesses, organizations, and community members who would be willing to share their time, knowledge, and experiences with our students.

Whether you can visit a classroom, share about your career, demonstrate a skill, bring something hands-on, read an agriculture-themed book, provide a virtual farm tour, or simply help our students learn more about agriculture—we’d love to have you join us!
